Happy International Women’s Day
Today, March 8 is International Women’s Day (三八妇女节); a day to celebrate women’s advancements in society and promote opportunities for success for women around the world who are less fortunate.
International Women’s Day has been observed since the early 1900’s, a time of great expansion and turbulence in the industrialized world that saw booming population growth and the rise of radical ideologies.
The UN theme for International Women’s Day this year is: Equality for women is progress for all.
Sometimes, we take equality, freedom, and the opportunity to receive an education, a job, a promotion for granted. By celebrating International Women’s Day, we raise awareness and make these privileges possible for millions of women worldwide.
On this special day, host a “Get-Together” with other women (friends, family, teachers) in your community and brainstorm ideas on how to raise awareness for women still living in oppression and inequality around the world. Put them into action and begin changing the lives of girls and women worldwide.
